Don’t Miss This Day Trip from Chiang Mai

Early last year we were enjoying the amazing northern Thailand city of Chiang Mai, and had just returned from an awesome day trip from Chiang Mai to some of the surrounding countryside attractions. The photos from our tour recently popped up in my Google Photos “rediscover this day” so I figured it was a great time […]

Chiang Mai Night Markets

The Chiang Mai night market “walking streets” were some of our favorite pastimes during our visit to this northern Thailand city. Over the course of a month in Chiang Mai, we visited these night markets 3 or 4 times and always enjoyed ourselves.

World Class Scuba Diving in Koh Lanta, Thailand

We’ve had the good fortune to dive in some amazing spots around the world from Sodwana Bay in South Africa to a night dive with manta rays in Hawaii. More recently we were treated to some spectacular sights at Balicasag Island in Bohol, Philippines. We’re happy to now include our dives at Hin Daeng, Hin Muang, and Koh Ha in Koh Lanta, Thailand among the amazing dive sites that we’ve experienced around the world.

Island Hopping Tour in Railay, Thailand

When we arrived we found Railay West and Phra Nang beaches beautiful but small and crowded, with cloudy water and tons of long tail boats. The peninsula itself […]

Railay Deep Water Solo Rock Climbing

The Railay peninsula near Krabi, Thailand is famous for great rock climbing, including many deep water solo opportunities. While it had been years since either Kat or I had been rock climbing, and we had never been deep water solo rock climbing, it’s a sport we really enjoyed in the past and we were itching to use this opportunity to get back on the rocks.

Chiang Mai Cooking Class at Basil Cookery School

A cooking class in Chiang Mai is a must do for anyone traveling through the area and who loves Thai food (who doesn’t?) There are a myriad to choose from depending on what you are looking for. All in all, an amazing day, a great early mother’s day gift for my mom, and I can’t wait to try some of my Thai cooking skills back home!

Silent in Chiang Mai – Buddhist Meditation Retreat

Update February 2018: Sadly it looks like the Wat Suan Dok website is no longer functional. I’m not sure if they’re still offering the retreat described below. If anyone in, or traveling to, Chiang Mai could post an update in the comments I’d really appreciate it! Taking advantage of cultural education opportunities around the world […]
